Dr. Haliza Abdul Mutalib is a Professor of Optometry and Vision Science at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She obtained her PhD from the UMIST, United Kingdom, in 2000, and received the prestigious VDC Peter Abel Award for excellence in contact lens research. Her clinical and research interests include specialty contact lenses for keratoconus and ocular surface disease, dry eye management, corneal morphology, and translational optometry research that bridges laboratory findings with clinical practice.
Professor Dr Haliza has led numerous national and international community eye-care initiatives, including the establishment of the Klinik Optometri Bergerak (Mobile Optometry Clinic). She is also the innovator behind patented and licensed eye-health technologies such as the KEJORA eyelid care products and a co-researcher for the myMata digital screening application. Through her work in research, innovation, and community outreach, she continues to advance optometric practice and improve access to vision care for diverse communities.
