Dr. Wan Haslina Wan Abdul Halim is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specializing in Cornea and Anterior Segment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, the teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She serves as Head of the Cornea Unit and Head of the Postgraduate Corneal Fellowship Programme, providing leadership in clinical service, education, and subspecialty training.
An accomplished academic clinician and researcher, Dr. Wan has extensive experience in the management of complex anterior segment disorders, cataract surgery, corneal diseases, and corneal transplantation. She is actively involved in postgraduate education, curriculum development, and the mentorship of medical students, residents, and ophthalmology trainees.
Dr. Wan has played key roles in the development of national cataract surgery workshops, surgical wet-lab training programmes, dry eye training initiatives, and e-learning modules aimed at enhancing ophthalmic surgical skills and professional competency.
Her research interests include corneal transplantation, infectious keratitis, cytomegalovirus-related corneal diseases, corneal biomechanics, tissue engineering and regeneration, and clinical trials. Through publications, conference presentations, and collaborative research, she continues to contribute to the advancement of evidence-based ophthalmic practice.
Dr. Wan remains dedicated to improving visual outcomes, advancing ophthalmic knowledge, and nurturing the next generation of ophthalmologists both nationally and internationally.
