Jemaima is an Associate Professor and a Senior Consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology. She graduated in 1996 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and served the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) for 3 years. She joined UKM as a trainee lecturer and obtained her Master of Surgery (Ophthal) in 2003 from the same university. Jemaima did a glaucoma attachment at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2006 and later pursued her PhD in University of Aberdeen, UK in 2008 where she concomitantly practised as a glaucoma fellow in the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. In 2018, she did her attachment at the Belfast Reading Centre (Belfast RC) and CARF (the Central Angiographic Resource Facility) imaging centre in Queen’s University Belfast. Her main research interests are health services research in glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy as well as delivery of service through internet of things. She has served on many national ophthalmology committees and involved in many national ophthalmology conferences. She is currently Director of UKM Press.
