Professor Dr Azhany Yaakub is an ophthalmologist at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where she is actively involved in clinical service, teaching, and research in ophthalmology. She obtained her undergraduate degree and Master’s qualification from USM and later earned her PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her special interests are in the fields of glaucoma and laser refractive procedures. Her clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of glaucoma within a tertiary care and academic setting. As an academic staff member, she contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and is involved in the training of ophthalmology trainees.

Her research interests include clinical ophthalmology, visual health outcomes, and quality of life, particularly in the area of glaucoma. She has contributed to scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been involved in academic research activities that support evidence-based practice and the advancement of ophthalmic knowledge. Through her academic and clinical work at USM, she continues to contribute to the development of ophthalmology research, education, and patient care at both institutional and national levels.
