Dr Vanessa Naseem obtained her FRCS (Ophthalmology), Glasgow in 2004 and underwent oculoplastic subspecialty training at Rotterdam Eye Hospital (Netherlands), National University Hospital (Singapore), and Serdang Hospital (Malaysia). She is Secretary of the Orbit and Oculoplastic Chapter, Academy of Medicine Malaysia, a founding member and past Chairperson of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (MSOPRS), and established the Oculoplastic Department at Penang General Hospital. Since 2016, she has been leading Oculoplastic Services at Island Hospital, Penang.

 

Dr Vanessa served as Councillor of the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS) from 2018–2024 and is the Malaysian representative for Women Ophthalmologists Worldwide (WOW). Her accolades include the Excellence Service Awards from the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology, Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, and the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award. She is actively involved in local and international scientific presentations and has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals in ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery.
