Dr. Vanessa Naseem is a pioneering Senior Board-Certified Oculoplastic Surgeon who leads the Oculoplastic Service at Island Hospital, Penang, Malaysia—one of the country's largest multiple speciality tertiary referral centres. She is widely recognised for her expertise in managing complex oculoplastic, lacrimal, and orbital disorders, and is renowned for performing advanced multidisciplinary oculoplastic and orbital surgery.
She obtained her FRCS (Ophthalmology) in 2004 before pursuing comprehensive subspecialty fellowship training in oculoplastic surgery at three distinguished centres: Rotterdam Eye Hospital, The Netherlands; National University Hospital, Singapore; and Serdang Hospital, Malaysia. Upon returning to Penang, she pioneered oculoplastic services in the northern region of Malaysia by establishing the Oculoplastic Department at Penang General Hospital, significantly expanding access to specialised care for the local community.
