Dr Muzhirah is a clinical geneticist at HKL, which serves as the national referral center for inherited metabolic diseases and genetic disorders in Malaysia. She graduated from University College Dublin, Ireland in 2001. She obtained her MRCPCH in 2007 and went on to complete her training in clinical genetics in 2014.

She is an honorary lecturer for the Medical Law and Ethics Faculty at UiTM, and the Master's in Genetic Counseling program at PPUKM. She is a member of the MyGenom Phase 1 and 2 Project Legislation Taskforce. She actively participates in research activities and clinical trials both locally and abroad.
